Taking the Pi55 Out of Cancer

The concept for this book derived out of the author’s inner thoughts and fears after been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in 2017. It spans three years documenting moments along that journey. It is a dark, humorous book delivered through dialogue between two voices in the author’s head who are non-PC but suffer with PC! Think Ricky Gervais and Roddy Doyle talking about prostate cancer and you won’t go too far wrong.

It’s a funny, honest read that brought a lot of old memories back as well as the old emotions. And emotionally, you have to take care of yourself when you’re being physically challenged by cancer.

We have been so touched by Raymond’s amazingly generous gesture of donating the proceeds from his book ‘Taking the Pi55 out of Cancer’ to the Marie Keating Foundation. Told through the two voices in his head, Raymond’s story reveals the brutally honest trials and tribulations of what it is like to have aggressive prostate cancer. We are taken through the emotional rollercoaster of physical side effects and how prostate cancer can make you feel mentally and emotionally. You will definitely laugh out loud and shed a few tears on reading this book, but will come away so uplifted by Raymond’s inspirational attitude and genuine wish to help others who might be faced with a similar diagnosis.

I’ve created a soundtrack to Taking the Pi55 Out of Cancer on Spotify, consisting of the songs that got me through the writing.
